Police Department
We have a staff of 17 full-time patrol officers and supervisors who are visible throughout town 24 hours a day. We complement our full-time staff with part-time patrol officers who add more coverage during busy times of year.
Included in the full-time staff is one full-time detective and two full-time uniformed detectives. Detectives investigate crimes throughout the town and follow up on tips that can prevent crimes from occurring.
We provide animal control and code enforcement services as part of our regular function. We have two officers who are certified as Nuisance Alligator Agents through the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission.
Accident Reports: Sunset Beach Police has partnered with Carfax to allow for easier access to accident reports. Accident reports can now be accessed online, 24/7, at www.crashdocs.org at no cost for the involved parties. This online portal allows for instant access to records that can be printed or emailed right from the website.
