Police Department

Our Mission:
The mission of the Sunset Beach Police is to provide exceptional services to our diverse community.  We strive to reduce the occurrence and fear of crime while enhancing public safety.  We are dedicated to serving with honor, integrity, and professionalism while maintaining public confidence.

Staff and Services:

We have a staff of 19 full-time patrol officers and supervisors who are visible throughout town 24 hours a day. We complement our full-time staff with part-time patrol officers who add more coverage during busy times of year.

Included in the full-time staff is one full-time detective and two full-time uniformed detectives. Detectives investigate crimes throughout the town and follow up on tips that can prevent crimes from occurring.

We provide animal control and code enforcement services as part of our regular function. We have officers who are certified as Nuisance Alligator Agents through the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission.
