Mosquito Control Program

The Mosquito Control Program begins as soon as the temperature reaches 70° and above. The Town coordinates with Brunswick County to initially treat areas historically known to contain mosquito larvae. Phone calls that are received from citizens relaying mosquito activity within the Town limits is used to coordinate with Brunswick County for mapping locations with high concentrations of mosquitos. As activity increases and the rainy season begins, the Town spraying program starts. The areas identified by the mapping exercise are treated first following by the remaining areas as per the schedule.

Spraying hours are between 5:00 am and 6:00 am. Dates, routes and spray times may vary depending on conditions such as high winds, heavy rain, fog and other unforeseen events such as equipment failure.

Spraying normally begins in July.
