Planning a day at the beach? We’ve made parking simple and convenient for you! Here’s everything you need to know to make your visit smooth and stress-free.


SUNSET BEACH TAX PAYERS:  FREE! parking for 2 vehicles (max) with registration for each vehicle. Residency/ownership will be confirmed with your Brunswick County Tax Parcel. Please check your "owner" status by visiting Brunswick County Tax Office's webpage prior to purchasing. You must see "Sunset Beach" listed on your tax bill to be eligible for the discounted rate.


Paid Parking Hours:
🕘 Enforced daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., April 1 - October 31.
✅ Free parking is available before and after these hours!


How It Works:
🚗 Parking is verified using your license plate—no need to display a ticket! Just be sure to double check the information you entered to avoid a ticket due to a license plate typo! 
📍 Park only in designated spots marked by Pay-to-Park signs. 🅿️ Parking areas are clearly marked with colored curbs, Pay to Park signage, and gravel lining.

  • Parallel roadside parking for cars 🚙 and trucks 🛻 is marked by gray concrete curb stops.
  • Parallel roadside parking for LSVs [low speed vehicles] (golf carts and motorcycles 🏍️) is marked by green curb stops.
  • Designated parking in Town-owned paved parking areas at the Gazebo Lot, Street Scape Lot, and the West end of Main Street are marked with white lines and Pay to Park signage.
  • ♿️ A vehicle displaying a handicap license plate and/or hangtag parked in a designated handicap space is free. Any other parking space will require a parking permit via the app.

The mobile app provides quick one-time setup, easy zone selection, and license plate confirmation each visit. Plus, you’ll get a 15-minute reminder before your permit expires so you can extend your time without returning to the lot!


Important Parking Info and Things to Keep in Mind:
🔹 First-come, first-serve basis—plan accordingly.
🔹 Parking permits are active immediately upon purchase.
🔹 Season passes require an account setup in advance.
✔️ Park only in designated lots and marked spaces. These are recognizable by the Pay-to-Park signage and payment instructions. 
❌ Do not park along highways or rights-of-way areas unless there is a designated Pay-To-Park space (Designated by colored curbs, signage, and gravel lining.)
🚫 Avoid private driveways or private property without owner’s permission.
♿ Handicap spaces are only for handicap-permitted vehicles.
🚑 Emergency access points must remain clear at all times.
🏠 If renting a home, check with your rental company about parking limits for your stay.
