ABC Board

The Sunset Beach ABC Board Members are appointed by the Sunset Beach Town Council. The Sunset Beach ABC Store operates independently of the Town and is governed by the North Carolina Alcohol Beverages Control Commission. In November 2015, the Sunset Beach Town Council adopted Ordinance 30.07 titled Sunset Beach Local ABC Board to establish the qualifications for membership on the Board as follows:

 30.07 - SUNSET BEACH LOCAL ABC BOARD.
  1. Pursuant to NCGS § 18B-700, the Sunset Beach Town Council is the appointing authority for the Sunset Beach Local ABC Board.
  2. The Board is comprised of a three (3) member board with staggered terms.
  3. The Sunset Beach Town Council shall appoint one member of the Local Board as the chairman.
  4. The Sunset Beach Town Council as the appointing authority has deemed that the qualifications for membership on the Sunset Beach Local ABC Board is as follows:
    1. Residency within the corporate limits of the Town of Sunset Beach,
    2. Interest in public affairs,
    3. Good judgment,
    4. Knowledge,
    5. Ability,
    6. Good moral character.

The ABC Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 10:00 am. Meetings are normally held at the ABC Store located at 7400 High Market Street Sunset Beach, NC 28468. The meeting dates and locations are posted on the event calendar of the Town website home page.
